Smart Security Surveillance Upgrade Project – Five-Star Hotel in Changsha, China
Project Background
A five-star international hotel in Changsha (approximately 800 guest rooms, banquet halls, and underground parking areas) required an upgrade of its legacy surveillance system. The original system suffered from unstable video transmission, poor night imaging, and frequent signal loss.
Solution Architecture
A hybrid network combining PoE access + fiber backbone + video optical transmission was deployed:
- Front-end: 260 HD IP cameras (2MP/4K)
- Access layer: Gigabit PoE switches (24/48-port, IEEE 802.3af/at)
- Core layer: Dual 10G fiber uplink switches
- Backbone: Single-mode fiber ring network with redundancy protection
- Long-distance transmission: Video fiber optic transceivers for banquet halls and parking areas
Key Equipment Used
- Industrial-grade 48-port Gigabit PoE switches with SFP uplinks
- Gigabit single-fiber bi-directional media converters (20–40 km)
- Multi-channel video fiber optic transceivers (8/16-channel)
- Redundant ring protocol (RSTP / ERPS)
Project Results
-
- Video latency reduced to under 200 ms
- Fault recovery time < 50 ms
- Night surveillance clarity improved by ~60%
- Enabled integration with AI face recognition system
